The last freedom fighter
In the final years of the German occupation of Denmark, resistance began to grow. Across the country, ordinary people chose to stand up against Nazism. Knud Christensen was one of them. At the young age of 17 he joined the resistance, taking part in weapons and explosives training, illegal newspaper production, and assisted in organizing underground operations.
Eventually captured by the Gestapo, Knud was deported to the Dachau concentration camp in Germany.
He survived but was forever marked by his experiences. Today, he is among the very last living freedom fighters.
