Jutlandia
On January 23, 1951, the hospital ship M/S Jutlandia left Copenhagen and set course for war-torn Korea.
Upon arrival, the Danish sailors, doctors, and nurses were immediately confronted with the brutal realities of war. Despite initial orders to treat only wounded soldiers, the crew made a defining choice: They began taking in and treating the many civilians caught in the crossfire.
A decision that that helped form our current model of humanitarian aid missions in war and conflict zones.
